Dislocation

Ken dislocated his elbow again. Previously he did it one year ago, when Mari pulled Ken’s hand while she was playing with him. I noticed his limp arm, and took him to a hospital. But Mari insisted there that he injured his wrist but not his elbow. So the doctor took a wait-and-see approach. I doubt this diagnosis and took Ken to another hospital. That was a general hospital, and an orthopedic specialist corrected his elbow right away.

This time, I was called from Mari that Ken fell down with chair holding something at the daycare. The chief of the daycare told Mari that Ken would better go hospital if he has a swelling in his shoulder. Ken murmured repeatedly, "give up, I give up."
I come back home soon and saw his limp arm again. I took Ken to the general hospital immediately. We waited for a while, and an orthopedic specialist corrected his elbow again. Ken was very delighted.
I do not know why they so want to take a wait-and-see approach. In either case, it was obvious that Ken had a problem in his elbow, at least for me.

Life

What is the answer to my life, universe, and everything of mine? Is that forty two? I hope it is not zero.

http://www.alife4sale.com

An Australian man plans to sell everything that his own: lifestyle, house, car, motorbike, job and friends. He will ebay his whole of life, and then he will head to the airport, get on the next flight, and newly start his life. Will the winning bidder discard his past life and take over this man’s life?
Perhaps many people wish to restart their life. I guess that I cannot get better life if I reset my life. My family gives me a great life. I would like to tell them that if I went back in time, I would trace the same life.
Mari often blames me for that I have damaged her career. Does she wish to restart her life?

Hemorrhoid

Photo is Ken's favorite Pichon-kun.

The bleeding had continued for 1 week, and I had to see a proctologist on Monday evening. After an interview with the doctor, I pulled my pants and shorts down to my knees and lay down on the examination table with my knees pressed to my chest. After the examination, he told me that I had an acute external hemorrhoid with a blood clot. I was given an ointment to be inserted into my anus and an anti-inflammatory agent.
After that, I picked Mari and Ken up with my car. Mari was angry with me. She told me that I was supposed to pick Ken up before going to the hospital. I did not hear about it, and rather, I do not want to let Ken see my awkward posture on the examination table.

Last Friday

I went to a University in Tokyo to meet a Professor who had been my graduate advisor. I did not keep in touch with him, but he remembered me and was worried about my job. I handed my CV to him and explained my situation. He told me that he would introduce me to a staff of a research institute in Japan. He called there right away, and to my surprise, I got interviewed by the staff on the spot. Furthermore, he accepted to write a recommendation letter for me. I was very impressed by his great kindness.

When I come back to my home, I felt something in my hip. I had a shock, because I bled from my hole. It was quite unexpected for me to have hemorrhoidal disease. I soiled my shorts, and I felt very miserable. I had to use a sanitary napkin from the next day.

Breast size and diabetes

It is the season of ume (a sort of Japanese plum) blossoms. Many birds sing on the branches. Spring has come.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18227448
I heard an interesting report via a friend of mine. A study by Canadian researchers showed that breast size may indicate a risk of type 2 diabetes. Even after adjusting several other risk factors, the risk to develop diabetes is 1.64 times higher in the D cup women than in the A cup women. Since breasts contain fat more than 60%, it is no wonder that cup size is correlated to the degree of obesity; however, the research indicated that breast size is a factor independent of body mass index (BMI). Of course, BMI is not an accurate index to assess obesity. In any case, it may be possible that breast size predicts diabetes in the women like the belly size.
I picture a scene that an A cup lady tells a D cup lady, "You will get diabetes !".

At last weekend

At last weekend, I attended an interim meeting in Tsukuba with regard to the project, in which I am currently involved. I prepared a PowerPoint file for the presentation, but my professor told me that I need not to join the meeting because I will be fired on this April. I could not make my mind until the meeting day and I was scolded by Mari in that morning.
I wanted to meet a friend of mine in Tsukuba at the night. To my surprise, the day was his baby's due date. So I did not see him and offered him my congratulations.
At the evening, there was a party for the participants. I extended to some of them my thanks for what they did for me. At the time, my professor passed nearby me without seeing me. When I saw her expression, I realized that I had failed to develop my carrier path again.
At the night, I felt nauseous and had bad diarrhea. I stayed at Tsukuba but could not attend the meeting the next day. The bad diarrhea had continued for three days and I went to the rest room some dozen times in a day.

I got a position

I got a position of assistant professor in a University in Japan. However, since it is a newly established University, I will assume the position next year. On the other hand, we have to move from our room until this April. I should find a postdoctoral position as soon as possible. I contacted to a Chemical company too, but I decided to continue my academic career anyway.
